MEET THE CLUB DIRECTOR AND OWNER

NANCY COX - DIRECTOR, RECRUITING COORDINATOR, U16 HEAD COACH

Nancy has invested in the growth and development of field hockey since 1981. Inter-scholastically, Nancy coached at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School from 1981 - 1997 and established the Pioneer Field Hockey Program, along with current Pioneer Head Coach - Jane Nixon, at the state and national levels. Nancy led the US Field Hockey Region 9 Futures Program as Coaching Director for many years.

In '98 Nancy joined the Michigan Field Hockey Program as an Assistant to then Head Coach and two time Olympian - Marcia Pankratz. In 2001 Nancy assisted the Wolverines in winning the first NCAA National Championship ever won by a women's team at Michigan. In 2005 Nancy became Michigan's fifth Head Field Hockey Coach. Tracey Fuchs returned to the Michigan Field Hockey Program as Associate Head Coach in 2005 and worked collaboratively with Nancy to win Big Ten Conference and Tournament Championships in 2005 and '07. The Wolverines earned NCAA final eight appearances in 2005 and '07. The Wolverines under Nancy's leadership compiled a 56 - 31 record. In December of '08 Nancy officially retired from the University of Michigan Athletic Department to return to her passion of assisting youth in developing and growing their hockey skills and knowledge at the interscholastic level.

Recognized as the USFHA Developmental Coach of the Year in 1999, Big Ten Coach of the Year in '07 and earning a Level II USFHA Coaching Certification with recommendation to Level III Nancy has clearly demonstrated the ability to develop hockey athletes and programs.

The next goal to Nancy's hockey resume is to develop Pinnacle Field Hockey Club to assist youth in meeting their goals and objectives for their hockey careers.

PINNACLE CENTRAL

Kristi Gannon Fisher

Kristi Gannon Fisher is in her fifth season as an assistant on the University of Michigan Field Hockey coaching staff. Gannon Fisher was a two-time All-American, 4-time Big Ten Conference 1st Team selection, Big Ten Freshmen of the Year, and Big Ten Conference Athlete of the Year during her collegiate career at Michigan (2000-03). She was also a pivotal member of the Wolverines 2001 NCAA Championship team.

With Gannon Fisher on the staff, over the last four seasons, Michigan has captured a Big Ten regular-season title and two tournament crowns while qualifying for the NCAA Tournament each year, earning a national runner-up finish in spring 2021.

A four-year member of the USA Field Hockey women's national team (2003-06), Gannon Fisher boasts 45 international caps and a pair of international goals. She contributed to U.S. silver medals at the 2004 Pan American Cup and 2001 Americas Cup and competed in the 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament. She was a member of the U.S. squad at the 2006 World Cup Qualifier and 2006 World Cup. A veteran of U.S. junior teams since 1998, Fisher also played on the 2001 Junior World Cup and 2000 Junior Pan Am teams.


A native of Escondido, Calif., Fisher graduated from Michigan in 2006 with a degree in physical education. She is married to Jim Fisher, a 2005 Michigan graduate and three-year football letterwinner as a tight end, and has three children, Jacob, Kaci and Karli.

When asked about her new role Gannon Fisher said "I am excited to join the Pinnacle family and help young athletes with their field hockey and life journeys.  I love what Pinnacle has built and I can't wait to contribute."

COREY BLOCK

Corey Block has been with Pinnacle since its inaugural season in 2009. Corey grew up playing field hockey through Ann Arbor Rec and Ed and was a captain of the Washtenaw Whippets club team in high school. She played collegiately at Michigan State University, where she was a 2-time captain and helped her team to a Big Ten Championship and several NCAA appearances.  After graduating she served as the volunteer assistant coach at Ohio University while working on her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She is now a Sports Certified Specialist of physical therapy and combines her passion for developing field hockey athletes with her deep understanding of human movement. 

In addition to coaching Pinnacle, Corey coaches at Chelsea High School. Corey comes from a strong field hockey family and has always been committed to growing the game. She is excited to be a member of the Pinnacle Coaching Staff and join in the vision of developing Michigan athletes into National leaders.

Taryn Damm

Taryn Damm has been with Pinnacle for several years. Taryn started with Pinnacle as a player and came back to coach after furthering her education. She continued her field hockey and education at Central Michigan University, where she was a captain and versatile team player. 

Taryn maintains degrees in Physical Education and Health Education. She combines her passion for field hockey with her love of helping children grow and achieve their goals. She emphasizes proper form, child development, and the love of the game.

Taryn stays involved by coaching for nexus, local programs and Pinnacle. She has acquired her level 1 coaching certificate. While doing this she also teaches elementary physical education in Ann Arbor.

CLAUDIA KEEN - CLUB ADMINISTRATOR

Claudia is an active member of the field hockey community in Ann Arbor.   As the mother of three daughters, Sofia, Isabel and Elizabeth, and wife of Tom Keen, Claudia is actively involved in Ann Arbor Community Rec and Ed Field Hockey as a coach and mentor. A previous field hockey athlete at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, under the tutelage of Nancy Cox. Claudia earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan and her teaching certification from Eastern Michigan University.

Claudia handles the organizational pieces for Pinnacle related to travel, scheduling, venues, uniforms and registration of athletes.

KEELY TAMER

Keely  Tamer is a graduate of the University of Michigan and former 2-time captain of the Wolverines field hockey program.  While at Michigan Tamer earned a degree in Secondary Education and a Masters degree in Social Studies Education.

After graduating, Keely became graduate assistant coach at Kent State University  earning a Masters degree in Sports Administration . Keely was instrumental in starting a Futures site in Pittsburgh, PA. Keely served as Head Coach at Upper St. Clair High School in its inaugural Varsity season. She also served as interim regional administrative director for the Futures program for Pennsylvania in 1998.

Keely is currently Executive Director for Great Lakes Regional Field Hockey and Head Coach at Dexter High School, a program she has worked with since its first season in 2010, in that time Dexter has won 4 state titles.

Kelsey (Thompson) Chun - Site Director - Pinnacle West

Kelsey (Thompson) Chun - Pinnacle West Site Director

Kelsey (Thompson) Chun graduated from Northwestern University in 2014 where she started every game of her field hockey career. Coming into a program that had consistently finished near the bottom of the Big Ten, Kelsey was an integral part of the program’s return to success. As a captain during her senior and fifth-year seasons, Kelsey led the program to a Big Ten Championship in 2013 and the program's first-ever Big Ten Tournament Championship in 2014. This propelled Northwestern field hockey to their first NCAA tournament appearance in 20 years.

Before going to Northwestern, Kelsey attended  Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, where she was a four-time varsity letterman in both field hockey and lacrosse. There, she was part of four field hockey state championship teams from 2006 to 2009 and was honored twice as a first-team All State award winner in 2008 and 2009. Kelsey captained the state championship team in 2009 and was named the Washtenaw County Player of the Year.

Kelsey is the second oldest of seven children and comes from a strong field hockey family. Her younger sister Molly (Thompson) Argersinger played at Georgetown University and now coaches at Pinnacle in Ann Arbor and Brighton. Kelsey's younger sister Tess Thompson also played field hockey at Yale University.

Kelsey, a native of Ann Arbor, earned both her Bachelor's (in Psychology) and Master's degrees from Northwestern University. After graduating with her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2018, Kelsey and her husband, Anthony, relocated from the Chicago area to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Kelsey writes for Verily Magazine and is associate head coach of the East Grand Rapids High School field hockey team, and Anthony works in finance for Steelcase. They have a daughter, Lucy, and are welcoming their second child in July of this year.

Kate Brondyk - Coach

Kate Brondyk is a Grand Rapids native who grew up playing field hockey for East Grand Rapids where she was awarded All State and Team Captain for both her Junior and Senior years. She went on to play field hockey at the College of Wooster and was awarded NCAC player of the week her freshman year. After college, she completed her Dietitian Internship at Duke University where she played on the Triangle Field Hockey club team. 

After returning home to Michigan, Kate works as a Registered Dietitian at Blodgett Hospital with a specialty in sports nutrition. For coaching experience, she is coming off her first season as the Head Coach for the East Grand Rapids Field Hockey Program. Kate is eager to continue growing the sport on the West side of the state!

Andrea Shaner - Coach

Andrea Shaner is an East Coast native, born and raised in Frederick County, MD. She started playing field hockey in elementary school and was on Urbana High School’s inaugural team where she was a letter-winner. After graduating from Ball State University and moving to Michigan with her husband, Andrea wanted to bring her love of the sport to West Michigan.  She started the Forest Hills Field Hockey program in the fall of 2007 and has been at the helm ever since. She led her team to its first division title in 2012, and in 2013 her team placed in the top 3 in the State Games of Michigan and State Games of America. That year, her team was also a State Finalist in Division II.   

In 2017, Shaner’s team won its first state title, promoting them to Division I.  Andrea is a member coach of USA Field Hockey and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. In 2013, she was one of eight nominees for the NFHCA's Midwest Region High School Coach of the Year. Shaner holds a USA Field Hockey Level 2 coaching certification.
